As of 1/1/2023 it is illegal to sent ANY passport/I.D or driving licences for whatever reason with the Turkish post PTT. ALL passports, regarding of country of issue must be sent out with private couriers such as DHL, UPS etc.
NOTE… UK passports issued from October 2019 will have blue covers, not the current burgundy, also there will no longer be the 3 months added to passport validities as at present [ giving 10yrs 3 months]. It will be a straight 10yrs.
From the moment of Brexit, the passport will continue to be valid as a UK travel document, but will lose all the rights associated with European Union membership.

PLEASE NOTE….When you receive your old passport back DO NOT LOSE OR DISCARD IT…as you may well be asked to produce it when applying for a new RP,especially if applying for a Long Term RP or making an application for Turkish citizenship at anytime in the future.
Countersignatories
The countersignatory must: • be a professional person (including those who are retired) for example, bank or building-society officials, police officers, civil servants, ministers of religion and people with professional qualifications like teachers, accountants, engineers and solicitors – you can find more information at https://www.gov.uk/countersigning-passport-applications countersigning-passport-applications • have known you personally for at least two years (for example a friend, neighbour or colleague, not someone who knows you professionally), and • hold a British, Irish or other EU, US, or Commonwealth passport (in that order of preference) which has not run out. We will be able to process applications more quickly where the countersignatory has a British or Irish passport.
If so it has now been clarified from Joanne Pietsch, from the British Consulate. It was raised at the recent community meetings but may have escaped most due to RP issues.The advice is: “You can still hold a UK and Turkish passport at the same time.”However the issue is if you have the Turkish passport in your Turkish name and wish to have your UK passport renewed in your British name.”The UK Passport office advice now is that you CANNOT hold 2 different travel documents in different names.”You need to use 1 or the other and hold both passports in the same name or relinquish the Turkish passport.”Anybody in this situation should contact the Passport Office for advice.

Before entering Turkey Make sure your passport satisfies the following criteria,
valid for at least 60 days beyond the expiry date of your visa, e-visa or residence permit (visas and e-visas are often issued with 6 months validity so your passport may need to have 8 months validity at the time your visa is issued).

Question, changing to my married name on uk passport, asks for marriage certificate, only have the marriage book is that acceptable? And does it need translating and notarized?
A.Yes it is acceptable and already has translations in it. Or if you go to office where you got married you can ask for a form b . Which is a single sheet copy of your marriage book with translations on back.
If you receive a new passport due to expiry /name change thro’ marriage or divorce you must inform your GOC office within 20 working days…
You will need to take your new passport ,one colour photocopy of the picture page,a biometric photo [as supplied during your RP application process] & a photocopy of both sides of your Residence Permit card & this form..
Download & print off the form, fill it in & take with the others paperwork to your GOC office.
